Geluna is an artisan gelato shop in Downtown Cary. We make our gelato from scratch using local milk and cream and pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, cleanliness, and product quality.

We're looking for team members who enjoy working with people, take pride in their work, and can help maintain high standards even when managers are not present.

About the ideal candidate:

  • Is responsible, reliable, clean, honest and independent

  • Has food handling/food prep experience, with frozen dessert prep a plus

  • Enjoys working with customers

  • Takes initiative without being asked

  • Notices when something needs to be cleaned, stocked, or organized

  • Is dependable and punctual

  • Is comfortable working in a small team

  • Maintains a calm and positive attitude during busy periods

  • Takes pride in cleanliness and food safety

  • Is willing to learn about coffee and gelato

  • Can work during the school year

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities will include:

  • Serve gelato, coffee drinks, milkshakes and other menu items

  • Greet every customer in a friendly and welcoming manner

  • Help customers choose flavors and menu items

  • Maintain a clean and inviting shop throughout the shift

  • Wash and sanitize equipment, gelato tubs and utensils

  • Restock cups, cones, spoons, napkins and other supplies

  • Clean tables, chairs, benches, and windows; sweep and mop floors, clean bathroom including toilet

  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures

  • Support production staff with cleaning, organizing and packing pints when needed

  • Complete opening and closing responsibilities

  • Operate the Point of Sale system and handle payments accurately

  • Identify and address problems before being asked

Qualifications

  • 17 years or older

  • Proactive, positive, friendly, and outgoing

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Comfortable receiving feedback and coaching

  • Have a mobile phone + internet access (for shift scheduling)

  • Have your own transport to/from work

Availability Requirement

  • Available to work at least 2 shifts a week

  • Can work at least 1 evening shift mid-week (until 9:15/9:30) and 1 evening shift on Friday or Saturday until 9:45pm (10:30pm in Summer)

  • Be available to work shifts that are 4 to 6 hours long

Physical Requirements

  • Able to frequently lift 25 pounds regularly, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Able to stand on your feet for long periods and work well with others in a small space

  • Able to bend and reach into gelato tub to scoop gelato repeatedly

Compensation

  • $7-8.00/hour + your share of pooled tips. You can expect to take home between $12 - $16/hour.

Probation Period

Employment is subject to a probation period of up to 8 shifts.
